"THIS
ONE'S FOR ME"
by Diane Anderson
I shop hours on end - buying fabric, you see,
Then cut it apart and stitch it with glee.
I spend hours - no, months - on my labor of love,
Just to give it away, with a kiss and a hug.
I've done this for years, too many to know,
And still I have nothing, my hard work to show.
But now, I will search my stash with a purpose:
To find all the fabrics from those I have purchased,
That speak to my heart, my life, my emotions,
And start a new quilt, that's based on my notions.
This one will have all the colors I love,
I'll design it myself - it'll fit like a glove.
Hours spent on this quilt will stretch into days,
Then weeks, even months, while I work in a haze.
And then when I'm done, and I see it's completed,
I'll love it the best and I'll see it's well treated.
Though I love to give quilts and they're all great to see,
This one is precious, 'cause this one's for me.

a can of soup,

Potatoes,cornflakes,
a new blade for my cutter,
butterscotchpudding,
a quilt batt and butter.
Chuck roast,yogurt,
canned tomatoes and beans,
can't think of it's name,
a thing to rip seams.
Mushrooms and soap,
lettuce(two heads),
scraps for my quilt
of colorfast red.
Plastic for templates,
sardines(4 tins),
cottage cheese,a melon,
a large box of pins.
A green pepper or two,
pretzels and chips,
try the new quilt shop
for good fabric snips.

"Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray that I shall always keep,
For all the children yet to be,
The quilts my mother made for me."

"FABRIC NAP"
by Jacquie Sciutto
The pampered pets of quilters
Sleep on expensive beds
Of quilts in greens and purples,
Yellows and blues and reds.
The quilts don't have to be finished;
Any stage of completion will do:
As long as it's fabric meant for a quilt
They'll find it and lie on it too!
